JP Morgan Chase art collection

The JP Morgan Chase art collection, founded in 1959 was originally conceived to complement the new Wall Street headquarters building and plaza designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. When David Rockefeller, president of the bank at the time, established an art committee of recognized art experts and members of the bank’s senior management to suggest and approve purchases, the first corporate art program was created.

The JP Morgan Chase art collection is comprised of over 13,000 works including paintings, sculpture, prints and multiples, drawings, maps, fabrics, constructions, decoys, models, ceramics, glass, photography, ceremonial objects, utilitarian objects, furniture and video. Although works from many countries and periods are included, the collection focuses primarily on American art, with an emphasis on the last four decades.

Previously on loan, eighty eight pieces of artwork were donated to ColumbiaDoctors Eastside in 2005 from the JP Morgan Chase Artwork Collection. Other artwork that has been recently donated to ColumbiaDoctors Eastside or on loan from artists includes pieces from David Rappaport, Joseph Bostany as well as Dan Bleier. These artists are displayed on the promenade and the third floors of the facility.
